What is Reiki?
Reiki is a form of energy healing in which the practitioner connects to the limitless power of the Divine. When this connection is made, a potent healing energy is embodied by the practitioner, and then transferred to the healee.
Matter is influenced by energy, not the other way around. (See the science in Dr. Joe Dispenza's study here).
And so, when our energy is upgraded, it affects our body by bringing it healing.
When it comes to the debate of matter versus energy, a common misconception is the belief that matter emits a field of energy. However, contemporary research shows the contrary. It is not matter that emits a field of energy – but rather, there is an invisible field of energy that creates matter. It makes sense, then, if you could change the field, you could change matter. This is the principle on which countless people in our community have healed themselves. -Dr. Joe Dispenza
Reiki originated in Japan and was brought to the West by Dr. Mikao Usui. It has long been said that Reiki goes where it needs. So, you do not need to use your mind while receiving Reiki. Rather, you're meant to trust that it is bringing healing to precisely where it is meant to.
How can Reiki benefit us?
- Better sleep.
- Reduced anxiety.
- Improved mood.
- Reduced pain.
- Increased energy.
- Improved blood circulation.
- Connection to the Universe and its wisdom ("downloads")
- "Miraculous" healings
When should one go to Reiki?
- When things are chronic (i.e. pain, illness, “bad mood”).
- When you've “tried everything.”
- When you feel called to it, as that may be the Universe nudging you.
- If you’re moving through something acute, it may be helpful to go once a week until it has cleared (though it can clear in one session too, depending).
- For overall “energetic hygiene” that’s up to you and what feels correct. In the same way some people get massages once a week, while others get them once a year, there are a variety of ways in which you may like to implement Reiki into your wellness routine. Trust your intuition.
Can Reiki really be done virtually?
Yes. Though many think of Reiki and imagine only palm-healing, Reiki is not physical therapy. It is energetic healing that knows no spatial bounds. So, distance Reiki is not only possible, but it is equally as potent as in-person; some people even prefer it due to the ability to receive in the comfort of their own home.
What can I expect in a Reiki session?
Minute 0-20: Meet, discuss your intention.
Minute 20-40: Get comfortable (seated or lying down), close your eyes, listen to the healing music, and receive Reiki.
Minute 40-60: Reconnect, discuss how you are feeling, and go over what you may expect post-Reiki, as well as how to best care for yourself in this potentially tender time.
